We have enjoyed examining the parables of Jesus together during Lent in Fourth grade Faith Studies. We read the parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin and wrote our own present day parables in small groups. We acted out the parable of the Prodigal Son and discussed its meaning to us. We read the parable of the Good Samaritan and listed ways we can help our neighbors at Trinity. We created skits in small groups for the parables of the Sower and Mustard Seed. We participated in a dramatic reading of the parable of the Workers in the Vineyard and then helped our school by doing some weeding in the butterfly garden. Last week we read the parable of the Great Banquet and created pictures of the table we are all invited to by God. Your child should be able to give you their definition of a parable, and they should also be able to tell you where they see God in a parable and where they see themselves. Through our discussions and study we have learned from each other that there are many ways to understand each parable and that each one is a special story from God with a message that can relate to our lives today.
