MI Test for parents!

If you would like to take the test yourself, here is the link to the adult test. Enjoy!

MI Test for students

This afternoon we took an online test to help us identify our multiple intelligences. Students printed their results, and we will discuss what this all means tomorrow in class. Unfortunately, several students were unable to print their result sheet today due to technical difficulties. We have encouraged them to retake the test at home tonight and print out their results. Please have them bring these back to school tomorrow for our discussion.

Learning Celebration

We can't wait for you to come back to our classroom after Unite or Die!  to see the poetry, writing, art, maps, and math the 4th graders have been working so hard on!

Unite or Die: How 13 States Became a Nation

It's showtime! Our performance is quickly approaching. While most students know their lines and cues perfectly, we encourage the students to look over their scripts over the weekend.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday at 10:00 in the Dickson Dining Hall for the performance.

Nifty Fifty

During this final week of school, we hope for our 4th graders to pull together all the work they've done learning the states region by region. It is time to conquer the entire 50 states! We will spend lots of time in class quizzing each other and playing games to help solidify this learning. Please encourage your student to review each night at home as well.

Multiple Intelligences

During our final week of school we will take time to learn more about ourselves as learners. We all learn differently, and we all have different strengths and challenges. Your student will take an online assessment that will let them know what kind of learner they are through the lense of Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences.

  • Linguistic intelligence ("word smart")
  • Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")
  • Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
  • Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")
  • Musical intelligence ("music smart")
  • Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
  • Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
  • Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")

Math Projects

We are in the home stretch with our "Mathematicizing" projects. A lot of great math work has gone into these projects. Today in class students compiled all of their work into a folder and created a table of contents. Also, Mr. Merritt and I had a final meeting with each student to give them advice on how they could improve their projects to make them more reader-friendly. We also served as human spell -checkers to help avoid careless errors in their final copy.  We can't wait for you to have a  chance to check them out on Tuesday at our Learning Celebration. Some students selected to bring their projects home over the weekend to complete some final touches.

Sandwich Deli Writing Project

The Sandwich Deli Writing Project is a big hit! Students are working in groups to dream up a creative sandwich full of delicious ingredients. They are working on descriptive writing that will have your mouth watering. We are genuinely impressed with the inviting leads, strong verbs, specific adjectives, transitional phrases, and compelling conclusion sentences that the students are writing. You have to love it that many of the groups carried clipboards and pencils to lunch one day to have extra time to work on their writing!
